HI all,
Just thought I would post an update. It's been a busy summer to say the least. We are 3 months into our new house and about 50% settled. There are still many things to do, but all in good time. It was so chaotic getting out of the old house I decided to settle slowly and maticulously so that things will be done right and when I have the time to do them! We have unpacked for the most part. We still have a few pieces of furniture to move around and I have, hmm just a few things on the wall. I've been toying with the idea of doing a little painting, I'll start with the living room and work my way around the first floor. I've tried to accept the slightly tinted white paint they used, but after our many months of going in and out of the hospital setting I've decided that white is just too sterile and I need some warmth and color on our walls.
Little J starts school this Tuesday, we are looking forward to that. We get to walk to school this year! I know that seems like a silly thing to be excited about but it's great exercise and when we lived in Morgan Hill we were as you all know, on a hill and while driving down to the school we were a weensy bit jealous of all the families that got to walk to school. The hastle with parking can can be stressful to say the least. I'm also excited that little John will have the opportunity to make some friends that live in his new neighborhood. This move has been the hardest on him. He's come around to the new house nicely, but I want him to really be happy. I think having some friends his own age will bring him a little happiness. We've also done all the school shopping and he's had more of an opinion on his clothes this year. he wanted to pick his own things so we had to compromise a little. he didn't ask for anything drastic, but if he had his way the kid would wear sweats or spoorty type clothes all the time. It was also fun buying school supplies. I've never seen him so excited over a new box of freshly sharpened pencils. :o)
Riley is doing great as well. He had his 2 year checkup already. his birthday isn't for a few months but I thought I'd get it out of the way since he needs to get cought up on the shots he missed while going through his surgeries. He's 27 pounds, 10 oz and 34 inches long. Thats quite an average size for his age, so he's doing great! He has made some new friends in a playgroup I've gotten involved in. He's enjoying being around more kids and big brother has been able to join in the fun. If you don't know yet, Little J is Rileys favorite playmate. Even though they are 5 years apart they are very close and it warms my heart when I watch them together. There is something very special about the bond they share and I hope it will always stay with them.
John and I are doing good as well. It's going pretty well with him working from home. Sometimes I worry he will get tired of being in the same house with me all the time, but when he works he's in his office and it's really not much different than when he commuted. Except that his commute is the 30 seconds it takes to get down the stairs and sometimes he turns to me for lunch ideas. :o) That can be a bit of a challenge when I am used to preparing jelly sandwiches and mac n cheese! Those things aren't quite good enough for the man of the house. :o)
Ok, well I think it's time for me to get some sleep. I'll try to post more often as we settle into our new routines.
Love always,
Kim
